The Polk County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Rabun County by a score of 80-78. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (63), Polk County still had to take the loss.
Rabun County found their leader in underclassman Huey Blalock, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Reed Burrell, who scored 15 points along with six assists.
Polk County now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Rabun County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9.
Polk County will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Towns County at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Towns County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Rabun County is on the road again on Friday and play against Hayesville at 8:30 p.m. on December 29th.
