After flying high against the Central Raiders last Friday, the Caldwell Bluejays came back down to earth. Caldwell took a hard 43-27 fall against the Wildcats on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Caldwell of the 48-36 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.
Caldwell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bree Strecansky, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Caldwell dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.2 points per game. As for Oxford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caldwell will square off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Flinthills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bluejays in Kansas (the Mustangs are ranked 143rd, while the Bluejays are ranked 358th). As for Oxford, they will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
