While Riverside's victory against Hanover Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hawkeyes 34-31. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Hawkeyes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Despite the defeat, Hanover Area saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dawin Downey picked up 88 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown. Angel Tejeda made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Riverside's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Hanover Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Riverside wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 33-23 loss against Lakeland on the 5th. As for Hanover Area, they have also already played their next matchup, a 47-0 victory against Holy Cross on the 6th.
