Baseball Recap: Swansea Comes Up Short

If Swansea was riding high fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Silver Bluff last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fox Creek Predators on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled against the Predators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Swansea got a good showing from Alex McFarland, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. McFarland has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Hair was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Swansea's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Fox Creek, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Swansea Tigers face off against Edisto Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fox Creek, they will head out to challenge Swansea at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
