Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Valley View walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Baldwin Park Braves on Saturday, sneaking past 20-18. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Valley View's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Daryeon Scott, Mychael Johnson, and Bronson Pulu, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Valentino May, who threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns.
Valley View's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Baldwin Park, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.
Coming up, Valley View will challenge Valley Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Baldwin Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
