Baseball Recap: Albuquerque Academy Takes a Loss

Albuquerque Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the St. Pius X Sartans, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Thursday.

Albuquerque Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Delaney, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Delaney is becoming a predictor of Albuquerque Academy's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Daniel Candelas was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Albuquerque Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for St. Pius X, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albuquerque Academy will square off against Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Albuquerque Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Valley has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for St. Pius X, they will host Belen at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belen will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something St. Pius X surely won't give up without a fight.
