The St. Francis Red Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Bishop Ludden 72-45. While losing is never fun, St. Francis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Bishop Ludden is ranked 33rd).
When it comes to explaining why St. Francis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah Neely. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyton Roberts, who scored eight points.
St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Bishop Ludden, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
St. Francis' road trip will continue as they head out to face Canisius at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Canisius is coming into the match with six straight wins at home, so St. Francis is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Bishop Ludden will take on Syracuse Academy of Science at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Ludden knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Syracuse Academy of Science likes a good challenge.
