Butte County will take on Hagerman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Butte County has given up an average of 44.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Butte County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Raft River, who was ranked eighth at the time (Butte County was ranked 23rd). The Pirates came up short against the Trojans on Friday, falling 36-12. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Butte County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Teagan Babcock, who rushed for 128 yards, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Hagerman waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pilots 58-6. With the Pirates ahead 36-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Butte County better focus on containing Wyatt Mavencamp and Casen Knight as the pair were huge in Hagerman's win. Mavencamp threw for 223 yards and four TDs, while Knight gained 208 total yards and three touchdowns. Knight also rushed for 140 rushing yards, which is notable because Hagerman is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was William Mavencamp, who picked up 41 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Hagerman proved: they limited Glenns Ferry to a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. While three picked up at least one total tackle, Mavencamp stood above the rest. He threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 33 yards and a pair of TDs. Hagerman didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged eight.
Butte County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Hagerman, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Butte County against Hagerman in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 50-22 win. Will Butte County repeat their success, or does Hagerman has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
