Bishop Rosecrans is 0-4 against Fisher Catholic since April of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bishops will square off against the Irish at 5:15 p.m. Bishop Rosecrans is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Bishop Rosecrans got the win against Harvest Prep by a conclusive 20-3. The Bishops haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Emily Jenkins was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Jenkins was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Bishop Rosecrans got a massive performance out of Ellie Worden, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Kerry Thompson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Fisher Catholic waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 9-5.
Lauren Kersell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Brue, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Kline, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Fisher Catholic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Rosecrans, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bishop Rosecrans has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fisher Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bishop Rosecrans suffered a grim 17-9 defeat to Fisher Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bishops avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
