Softball Recap: Harper Creek Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Harper Creek won the last time they faced Pennfield and things went their way on Thursday too. The Beavers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Beavers have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Blair Yurisch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kennedy Halverson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Allison Govier was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Harper Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 11-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Harper Creek's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Pennfield, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Harper Creek wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Climax-Scotts on the 10th. Pennfield has also already played their next contest (against Lakeview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
