Trevor Zacher and Cody Nelson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Carrington. The longest such play in AA West this season, the connection resulted in 67 yards.
St. Mary's Central suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after defeating Turtle Mountain. The Saints had been ranked 21st, but fell to 26.
Beulah's dynamic duo of Zacher and Nelson proved tough for the Cardinals to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Zacher threw for 244 yards and Nelson had 104 yards receiving. Karson Hintz helped Beulah's passing attack out by catching six balls for 53 yards.
Casey Murphy was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 174 yards as Carrington bested Carrington. Teammate Seth Abaurrea added to the ground attack by rushing for 39 yards.
Beulah's Zacher and Nelson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Zacher has thrown for 1397 yards this season, while Nelson, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 29 catches for 522 yards. Trevor Wettlaufer from Bottineau leads the league in rushing with 1110 yards.
In 123 carries Murphy has accumulated 910 yard this year.
A big matchup in AA West this week will be when St. Mary's Central takes on Bishop Ryan/Sawyer. At the moment, the Saints are in sixth, while the Lions are in first.
Trinity/New England was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Titans defeated the Braves 28-13.
