Aspen is on a 15-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), North Fork a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Aspen Skiers will take on the North Fork Miners at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Aspen ended up a good deal behind Roaring Fork and lost 49-30. While losing is never fun, Aspen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Roaring Fork is ranked 131st).
While North Fork couldn't quite beat Gunnison on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 20-point defeat they were dealt last Tuesday. North Fork fell just short of Gunnison by a score of 37-35.
Despite the loss, North Fork saw an underclassman step up: Alyssa Lovelace scored 14 points. Sidney Neff was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds.
Aspen's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for North Fork, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
