Monday just wasn't the day for Mount View's offense. They lost 12-0 to Greenbrier West on Monday. The Golden Knights haven't had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
For Greenbrier West's part, Brilee Redden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Redden has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Adkins and Kyndall Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Adkins got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Taylor went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three runs gave Adkins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diana Porter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Greenbrier West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Greenbrier West has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mount View, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-8.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mount View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .496. However, it's not like Greenbrier West struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
