The Owen Warhorses's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-50 walloping at the hands of Swain County. Owen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-15.
Despite the defeat, Owen saw an underclassman step up: Asante Martin dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Martin's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Owen's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Swain County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Owen will be home for the holidays to greet Draughn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Draughn comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Swain County, they will head out on the road to face off against Hayesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hayesville's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
