If the Kent County Trojans were feeling good off their 50-19 takedown of the St. Michaels Saints last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Kent County was beaten by the Buccaneers 54-26 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Kent County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Buccaneers are ranked 73rd).
Despite the defeat, Kent County had strong showings from Zoe Angenieux, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Kate Cannon, who scored four points along with eight rebounds. Angenieux hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games.
Kent County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Kent Island, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kent County's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Colonels at 5:00 p.m. on February 5th. As for Kent Island, they will face off against the Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
