4A Region 2 recap September 4, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Walker Meadows and Tykwane Meniefield connected against Handley. The longest such play in 4A Region 2 this season, the connection resulted in 55 yards.
Nykel Mitchell of Beauregard ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against the Tigers last week. Mitchell's team beat Handley as he sprinted for 85 yards on the play and finished with 126 in all.
Alabama Christian Academy's dynamic duo of Chandler Taylor and Larrry Teague proved tough for Elmore County to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Taylor threw for 234 yards and Teague had 119 yards receiving. Hudson Pugh helped Alabama Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 56 yards.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Taylor and Teague proved to be unstoppable against the Panthers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Frank Moody was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 160 yards as St. James lost to Elmore County. Teammate Jonathan Robinson added to the ground attack by rushing for 44 yards.
Randall Sharman-Silva made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bill Moore's team fell to Norman Dean's team. The 5-foot-10 senior.
Teague was the best wideout in 4A Region 2 this week as the Eagles fell to the Panthers.
Taylor put up the best numbers in passing as Alabama Christian Academy lost to Elmore County.
The Eagles' Taylor and Teague have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Taylor has thrown for 234 yards this season, while Teague has 6 catches for 119 yards. Moody from the Trojans leads the league in rushing with 160 yards.
An important game coming up this the league this week will be when Charles Henderson takes on Beauregard. The Trojans are currently in second, while Smitty Grider's team is in third.
Bullock County fell to Barbour County 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
