Basketball Game Preview: Douglas County West Falcon vs. Arlington Eagles

Douglas County West is 8-2 against Arlington since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Douglas County West beat Fort Calhoun 54-46.

Douglas County West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trey Schieber led the charge by putting up 15 points. The dominant performance gave Schieber a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Zane Wohlers, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Arlington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Brownell Talbot on Saturday, sneaking past 57-54. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Douglas County West better keep an eye on Trent Koger. He was instrumental in Arlington's win, going 11 of 15 on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which Koger has scored at least a third of Arlington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Killian Mcintosh, who put up ten points along with seven boards and five assists.

Arlington was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win got Douglas County West back to even at 1-1. As for Arlington, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Douglas County West against Arlington when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 71-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Douglas County West since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
