After flying high against the Akiak Thunderbolts on Thursday, the Kalskag Grizzly Bears came back down to earth. Kalskag fell 47-35 to Aniak on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kalskag of the 48-24 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on Wednesday.
When it comes to explaining why Kalskag lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elizabeth Levi. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kristyn Gregory-Ausdahl, who scored eight points.
Kalskag now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Aniak, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Kalskag does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Aniak won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tuluksak on January 19th.
