Basketball Game Preview: Great Crossing vs. Madison Central Indians

Great Crossing and Madison Central are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. Great Crossing will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Madison Central Indians at 7:30 p.m. Great Crossing knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Madison Central likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Great Crossing escaped with a win against Bellaire by the margin of a single free throw, 64-63. Given Great Crossing's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in Kentucky, while Bellaire is ranked 67th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Great Crossing's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malachi Moreno led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. Moreno's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Vince Dawson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Madison Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 66-57 to Hazard.

Madison Central's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Great Crossing, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Great Crossing didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Madison Central when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-51 win. Does Great Crossing have another victory up their sleeve, or will Madison Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
