After flying high against the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs last Friday, the Screven County Gamecocks came back down to earth. Screven County was the victim of a rough 75-53 loss at the hands of Savannah on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Screven County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Savannah is ranked 93rd).
Despite the loss, Screven County still got an impressive performance from Jayden Adams, who scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ladarious Hopkins, who scored 9 points.
Screven County now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Savannah, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Screven County will be playing at home against Claxton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Savannah, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodville-Tompkins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodville-Tompkins is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
