Softball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Biglerville

Biglerville had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Pequea Valley Braves as they made off with a 15-1 win. The Canners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Sydney McCleaf made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Paige Slaybaugh was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ava Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Biglerville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in eight consecutive contests.

Biglerville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Pequea Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Looking ahead, Biglerville will take on Susquehannock at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Canners' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Pequea Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
