The Alexander Spartans will head out to take on the North Adams Green Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Alexander hadn't beaten River Valley on the road since April 7, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Spartans walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Raiders. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 8, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Izzy Hixson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordan Sheets, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Hudnall, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, North Adams had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wildcats.
Chloe Armstrong was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Alexander's record now sits at 6-15. As for North Adams, their record is now 21-4.
Alexander's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Spartans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for North Adams, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Alexander continue to outrun the ball?
