North Yarmouth Academy is 9-1 against St. Dominic since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will take on the Saints at 3:30 p.m. North Yarmouth Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so St. Dominic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, North Yarmouth Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Maine Central Institute and fell 7-6. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Caroline Matusovich was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Morgan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Dominic waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Emily Andrews, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Olivia Tapley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
St. Dominic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Having lost for the first time this season, North Yarmouth Academy fell to 8-1. As for St. Dominic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Yarmouth Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .459. However, it's not like St. Dominic struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Yarmouth Academy skirted past St. Dominic 14-13 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
