The Grand Prairie Gophers will face off against the Arlington Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Prairie will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Grand Prairie took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Sam Houston by a score of 5-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Gophers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jiovanni Alvarado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Jaylen Garcia was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Brandon Peoples also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Arlington was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They lost 8-2 to Lone Star. The defeat continues a trend for the Colts in their meetings with the Rangers: they've now lost four in a row.
Yadir Gamez put in work no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Arlington got a good showing from Mason Hensley, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hensley also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Colts are 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-10 otherwise.
Gamez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Corbin Quiroz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Arlington's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Grand Prairie, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 4-18.
Grand Prairie might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Arlington when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Gophers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
