3A Conference 13 recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A Conference 13 this week, Cleveland beat South Johnston 34-12. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Western Harnett fell to Triton 55-15 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Isaac Martin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Cleveland beat the Trojans.
Martin was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 145 yards as Marc Morris' team fell to Marc Morris' team. Teammate Aaron Farmer added to the ground attack by rushing for 114 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Devin Harris. The South Johnston star has 59 catches for 797 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Triton takes on second place Corinth Holders. The Hawks beat the Eagles last week, while Corinth Holders topped Smithfield-Selma.
The Rams' Farmer needs only 12 yards against Western Harnett next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 139 carries Farmer has accumulated 988 yard this year.
One of 3A Conference 13's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Corinth Holders and Triton face off next week. Cole Sakowski has thrown for 2,057 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Brad Miller has terrorized opposing QBs to the tune of 10.5 sacks.
Next week's game between Barry Honeycutt's team and Ashley Ennis' team will feature an aerial matchup as Sakowski tests his arm against Emmanuel Myles's defensive ability.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hawks take on Corinth Holders. Triton has allowed 194 points this season, while Corinth Holders has given up 196. The Hawks allowed 15 points last week as they defeated Larry Brock's team.
