The Johnson Atomsmashers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Valdosta Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on December 22nd. Johnson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Valdosta is ranked 60th).
Last Saturday, Johnson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-38 to Hilton Head Christian Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Johnson has scored all season.
Valdosta has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season. They took their match on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 60-32 win over Stephenson. The win made it back-to-back wins for Valdosta.
Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Valdosta, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Johnson couldn't quite finish off Valdosta in their previous matchup back in November of 2018 and fell 55-53. Can Johnson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
