Even though the Nipmuc Regional Warriors scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, the Bay Path RVT Minutemen still came out on top. Bay Path RVT took their matchup against Nipmuc Regional 66-57. The victory was all the more spectacular given Bay Path RVT's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Nipmuc Regional is ranked 106th).
It was another big night for Peter Barbale, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Smolski, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, Nipmuc Regional still got an impressive performance from James McKinney, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKinney has scored all season. Jake Giardini was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
The victory got Bay Path RVT back to even at 9-9. As for Nipmuc Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5.
Bay Path RVT does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nipmuc Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sutton at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sutton is coming into the match with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Nipmuc Regional will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
