The Armwood Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-37 to Durant. The game was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Armwood was outscored by Durant in the second.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miles Davis, who scored eight points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Davis grabbed two or more steals. Jaberry Nereus was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals and two blocks.
Austin White was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with three steals for Durant. White hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Wylde Correa, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Armwood has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Durant, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Armwood will challenge East Bay at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Durant, Durant and Riverview will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Riverview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 650th, while Durant is ranked 120th).
