The Elgin Comets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 32 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Ridgemont 63-24 at home. With Elgin ahead 35-15 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Samantha Girton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Maycee Muselin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Ridgemont lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anna Ramsey, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Prezley Furer, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Ridgemont were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Elgin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Ridgemont, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elgin will take on Vanlue at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Vanlue focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday. As for Ridgemont, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Triad at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Triad focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
