Basketball Recap: Beechcroft Piles Up the Points Against Whetstone

Beechcroft won the last time they faced Whetstone and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars blew past the Braves 62-29. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Beechcroft found their leader in freshman Shandrella Balima, who went 6-for-8 en route to 18 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Balima also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 75%. Journi Irvin was another key player, shooting 42% from the field to rack up 11 points along with six boards and five steals.

Beechcroft is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. As for Whetstone, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Beechcroft didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-35 loss against Linden-McKinley on the 23rd. As for Whetstone, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 89-28 defeat against Centennial on the 23rd.
