The East Columbus Gators lost to the Pender Patriots back in December of 2023, but the East Columbus Gators didn't allow the Pender Patriots the same satisfaction on Wednesday. East Columbus skirted past Pender 48-46.
East Columbus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Troy, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Jaquise Smith was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Pender lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan Hansley, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmon Thomas, who scored 12 points.
East Columbus' win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Pender, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Columbus will take on East Bladen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pender, they will stay at home for another game and welcome South Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
