The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Silverado Skyhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Pinecrest Academy Cadence put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Mater Academy East Las Vegas as they made off with a 19-9 win.
Gabriella Colarco was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Colarco was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. In other batting news, Jazmun Thompson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Brynlee Ewing also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Silverado waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Skyhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 13 runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Madison Bracewell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Reed, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Silverado, their record now sits at 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pinecrest Academy Cadence has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Silverado struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
