Naples extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Red Jacket Indians, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Big Green Machines have suffered against the Indians since May 5, 2022.
Mia Betrus was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Red Jacket, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 15, 2025 (when they won 27-13).
On Red Jacket's side, Avery Close and Khole Brown made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Close struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Brown pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Close went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Brown went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Brown has brought in this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Griffith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Gianna Rizzo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Naples is set to face off against their familiar foe Honeoye at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Red Jacket will square off against rival Whitman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
