Tri has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Wes-Del Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Tri's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
Last Thursday, everything went Tri's way against Anderson Prep Academy as Tri made off with a 59-37 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Tri has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Murphy, who scored six points along with six steals and five assists. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Cornelius, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Wes-Del's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Daleville. While losing is never fun, Wes-Del can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Daleville is ranked 129th).
The losing side was boosted by Josiah Love, who scored 18 points. Trey Adams was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Tri is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Wes-Del, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Tri hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.1 points per game. It's a different story for Wes-Del, though, as they've been averaging only 52.1 points per game. The only thing between Tri and another offensive beatdown is Wes-Del. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Tri against Wes-Del when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 70-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
