The Stratford Red Devils's eight-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 44-19 margin over Bethel. The victory was just what Stratford needed coming off of a 34-6 defeat in their prior game.
Kyle Ray was on fire: he rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Januel Perez and his 122 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Stratford's win.
Enzo Marin and Luca Baia certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Marin picked up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Baia threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
Stratford's win bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Bethel, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stratford will take on Notre Dame Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Stratford in Connecticut (Notre Dame Catholic is ranked 27th, while Stratford is ranked 123rd). As for Bethel, they will be playing at home against New Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
