6A Region 3 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Carver extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 3 this week by beating Lanier, 40-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Wolverines.
Opelika's dynamic duo of Matthew Christian and Marquise Fulton proved tough for Auburn to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Christian threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns and Fulton had 107 yards receiving. Jakell Mitchell helped Opelika's passing attack out by catching five balls for 63 yards.
Jeremy Johnson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Carver bested the Poets. He completed nine passes for 114 yards and also ran for 62 yards. Johnson's favorite target this week was Charles Standberry, who caught four passes for 82 yards.
Reuben Foster made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Tigers beat the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed two sacks.
Harvey Harris was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 124 yards on 20 carries as Billy Gresham's team lost to Auburn.
Carver's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolverines feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 2211 yards and 28 touchdowns this season, while Landy Capetillo has 31 catches for 644 yards. Harris leads the league in rushing with 1111 yards.
The Wolverines led 6A Region 3 in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on Lanier. Draequon Murphy threw for 82 yards and one touchdown, ran for 30 yards and caught four passes for 53 yards in the win.
