Softball Recap: Johnson Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Johnson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Florin Panthers on Wednesday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Leticia Gonzales and Kayla Madison were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Gonzales tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Madison pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Gonzales earned two runs and three stolen bases, while Madison went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave Madison a new career-high.

In other batting news, Valicianna Collins-Hogan was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Naomi Quiroz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Johnson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Johnson's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Florin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
