There's no place like home for the Horizon Science Academy Hawks , who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They took down Patriot Prep Academy 62-43 on Saturday. This was payback for Horizon Science Academy, who suffered a 65-51 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Khiryn Mcneal was the offensive standout of the game as he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Roland Kargbo, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.
Patriot Prep Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Sammons, who scored seven points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Sammons has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Cameron Thomas was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Horizon Science Academy's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Patriot Prep Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.
Horizon Science Academy will head out on the road to challenge Grove City Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grove City Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Patriot Prep Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against KIPP Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
