The Warren County Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the North Edgecombe Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Warren County came up short against Weldon and fell 49-40. Warren County has not had much luck with Weldon recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Warren County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zarria Henderson, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Aryana Meadows was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, North Edgecombe humbled Wilson Prep with a 61-33 victory. Given North Edgecombe's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Wilson Prep is ranked 548th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Edgecombe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diamond Wilson led the charge by scoring 22 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ke'Ziyah Pittman, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
Warren County's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for North Edgecombe, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Warren County came up short against North Edgecombe in their previous meeting back in January, falling 48-40. Can Warren County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
