The Pueblo West Cyclones lost against the Golden Demons back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Pueblo West was the victim of a tough 76-50 loss at the hands of Golden. While losing is never fun, Pueblo West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Golden is ranked tenth).
Despite the loss, Pueblo West still got an impressive performance from Logan Montgomery, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Trujillo, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Leading Golden to victory were Shad Garnett and Slade Pike. Garnett dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Pike scored 16 points along with seven steals. That's the first time this season that Garnett pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alex Erger, who scored ten points.
Pueblo West now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Golden, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Pueblo West's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mitchell at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th. Mitchell comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Golden won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pueblo County at 10:00 a.m. on December 16th. Pueblo County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
