For the first time this season, Salem will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to face off against the Brownstown Central Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Salem has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
While Salem's win against South Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over the Rebels on Monday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.

Adison Feist made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. That run marked the first that she scored this season.
In other batting news, Kenadie Garloch was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Harley Walters was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Brownstown Central was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (11-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Brownstown Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Pavlik, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Brownstown Central dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Salem, their record is now 3-1.
Brownstown Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Salem has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Brownstown Central, though, as they've been averaging 11.2 hits. Given Salem's sizable advantage in that area, the Braves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Salem suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Brownstown Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
