The River City Believers Academy Soldiers were the 45-35 winner over the Faith Academy Cougars when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. River City Believers Academy received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 60-44 to Faith Academy.
When it comes to explaining why River City Believers Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Justin Townsend. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Nate Garcia, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
River City Believers Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Faith Academy, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-6.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing First Baptist Academy the next time they take the court. River City Believers Academy will head out to face First Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Faith Academy will host them at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th.
