Basketball Recap: Union Academy Piles Up the Points Against Gray Stone Day

Union Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Gray Stone Day Knights, posting a 73-28 win. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Heath Lunsford, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Lunsford has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jaqwon Harrell, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 21 points.

Union Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gray Stone Day only posted two assists.

When it comes to explaining why Gray Stone Day lost, don't look at Colt Greer. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and seven boards.

Union Academy's record is now 12-6. As for Gray Stone Day, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Union Academy will host South Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Union Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Gray Stone Day, they will head out on the road to square off against Albemarle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Gray Stone Day is facing Albemarle at the right time seeing as Albemarle is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
