The Ridgeline Riverhawks waltzed into their matchup Friday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Corner Canyon 75-34 at home. The result was nothing new for Ridgeline, who have now won eight matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Leading Ridgeline to victory were Elise Livingston and Emilee Skinner. Livingston scored 21 points, while Skinner scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Skinner has scored at least 25% of Ridgeline's points. Hallee Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Defeat or not, Corner Canyon got some senior leadership from Elina Mortensen who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and Maia Rhay who scored 13 points. The matchup was Mortensen's 12th in a row with at least ten points.
Corner Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Ridgeline pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.92 points. As for Corner Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgeline will square off against Green Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Green Canyon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Ridgeline is ranked first). Corner Canyon's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. on January 9th.
