The Timberlake Christian Tornadoes's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against Fuqua by a score of 46-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Timberlake Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Fuqua lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Minix. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Minix scored a full 51.3% of Fuqua's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Fuqua were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Timberlake Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Fuqua, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
Timberlake Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Westover Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Westover Christian Academy is ranked 354th, while Timberlake Christian is ranked 368th). Fuqua is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
