East Ridge is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Olympia is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Knights will welcome the Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Ridge's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Olympia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Thursday, East Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Cornerstone Charter Academy, taking the game 8-3.
East Ridge got a great performance from Sariah Espada as she struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Veronica Peterson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly O'Hara, who scored two runs and stole a base.
East Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Charter Academy struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Olympia hadn't done well against West Orange recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Titans walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Warriors. With that win, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Makenna Rossi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sasha Do was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Richelle Ruiz, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Olympia's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for East Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
Everything went East Ridge's way against Olympia when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as East Ridge made off with a 14-0 victory. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
