Sinton has gone 8-2 against Jones recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pirates will head out to challenge the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Sinton will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Sinton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Ingleside a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kash Wood was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Ace Fuentes also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Sinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jones hadn't done well against Rockport-Fulton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Trojans blew past the Pirates 10-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Davyn Perez was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Perez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Jones is 2-1 when Perez posts two or more runs, but 5-10-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Lang, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Trip Munoz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Sinton pushed their record up to 17-5-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Jones, their record is now 7-11-1.
Jones' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sinton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Jones, though, as they've only averaged .336. Will they be able to contain Sinton's hitters?
Sinton took their victory against Jones in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
