Aquinas got a 49 - 14 win over Blue Valley Northwest last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Tyron "Tank" Young. Young earned four touchdowns and 228 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Young as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Pittsburg (4th in the power rankings) and Blue Valley North (13th) did not disappoint. Pittsburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Blue Valley North, sneaking past 34 - 31. Pittsburg saw its record improve to 3-0 and its power rank jump seven places as a result.
Game of Inches
Goddard gave both Central and its quarterback (sacked nine times) a rough time last week. Goddard battled it out with Central for a well-earned 17 - 16 overtime win. The outcome was a definite jolt of excitement for Goddard after its previous game, where the margin was anything but close. The razor-thin margin made this game the most thrilling one of the week.
Movin on Up
Pratt was heavily favored to win coming into its game last week, and the results showcase why. It put the hurt on Hesston with a conclusive 55 - 0 victory. Senior Kadence Riner was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he ran for 121 yards and also punched in five touchdowns). The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by nine, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
