Sequoia Pathway Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
On Wednesday, Sequoia Pathway Academy took a serious blow against the Matador, falling 44-11.
Meanwhile, Santa Cruz Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Horizon Honors 53-22. While losing is never fun, Santa Cruz Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Eagles are ranked 80th).
Sequoia Pathway Academy dropped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.4 points per game. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Sequoia Pathway Academy came up short against the Dust Devils when the teams last played back in January, falling 43-33. Can Sequoia Pathway Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
