After seven games on the road, Uintah is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Emery Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Uintah's game was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Kelly Walsh by a score of 60-52.
Uintah's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dauson Gardiner, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Gardiner's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Murray, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Emery entered their tilt with Delta with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Emery was the clear victor by a 62-39 margin over Delta. Emery might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Emery's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Justice, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. The match was Justice's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Zack Tuttle was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Uintah now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Emery, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Uintah hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 56.2 points per game. However, it's not like Emery struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 63.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Uintah came up short against Emery when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 65-58. Will Uintah have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
